When to Schedule an Appointment
- Infants
Remember to make your baby’s first appointment by their first birthday. We recommend that both mom and dad come to their baby’s first visit. This early appointment is one of the best things you can do for your baby. We will teach you how to prevent childhood cavities. - Ages 1-3
Parents should be caring for their toddlers’ teeth. It’s also time to start flossing your child’s teeth. Your child should be seen in our office every six months for a preventative exam, cleaning and x-rays. Let us help you make healthy food choices for your young child. - Ages 4-6
Continue with six-month check up appointments and preventative treatments such as the application of fluoride and sealants to prevent cavities on the chewing surface of molars. - Ages 7-10
Your child should know how to brush and floss on their own. Continue with regular six-month preventative appointments including orthodontic evaluation. We continue with our age-appropriate instruction on healthy food choices including wise snacking. Remember younger children will most likely eat what is available at home. - Ages 11-13
Your child will be experiencing some major changes, including their teeth. At your child’s regular six-month preventative appointments, we will give special instruction for kids “adult teeth” including braces. - Ages 14-18
At our teenagers’ regular six-month preventative appointments, we discuss with them sensitive teen issues such as oral hygiene, dietary habits and snacking, eating disorders, teenage cavities, and third molars.
Appointment Policy
The scheduled appointment is reserved specifically for your child. Any change in this appointment affects many patients. If a cancellation is unavoidable, please call the office at least 24 hours in advance so that we may give that time to another patient. We will contact you to confirm your appointment, and that appointment will be removed from our schedule if we can not confirm the appointment with you. If we leave you a message (email, text, voicemail) please respond as soon as you can to confirm your appointment.
- For young children, restorative (fillings, extractions, etc.) procedures are scheduled in the morning. Children, as well as adults, are more prepared and do better in the morning for these types of procedures.
- We strive to see all patients on time for their scheduled appointment. There are times when our schedule is delayed in order to accommodate an injured child or an emergency. Please accept our apology in advance should this occur during your appointment. We will do the exact same if your child is in need of emergency treatment.
- Please plan to arrive 5 minutes or more before your scheduled appointment.
- This will allow time to complete any additional paperwork and see your child on time.
- If you arrive 10-15 minutes late for your appointment, you may be asked to reschedule for the next available appointment time.
- Again, please call at least 24 hours in advance if a cancellation is unavoidable so that we may give it to another patient.
- Broken or missed appointments affect many people. If two (2) broken/missed appointments occur or two (2) cancellations without 24-hour notice, our office reserves the right to not schedule any subsequent appointments.
- A parent or legal guardian (with official documentation) must be present during the initial examination and any restorative appointments.
